Why This Rocks: If all you Atreyu fans haven’t heard Brandon Saller’s side project, Hell or Highwater, you have been seriously missing out on some of the best rock and roll of the 21st century.  Taking cues from bands like My Chemical Romance and Avenged Sevenfold, this is one of those musical experiences that will put a “oh hell yea!” look all over your headbanging face. Brandon sounds beastly at his howling best and guitarists Matt Pauling and Neil Tiermann are downright Slash-like on this tremendously charging cascade of epicocity.  It’s hard to call music like this “raw” but truly you get the feeling that this is really closer to the soul of rock than most of bands who use parlor tricks to hide their inadequacies.  This is pure, unfettered modern rock. -TMB
