Editor’s Note: As a fan, it pains me to post this but out of respect to our followers and the music we represent we must stay balanced. This is a 3rd party report on the singer Jonny Craig and was not written by anyone affiliated with The Midnight Bandwidth.  We are just reporting the facts that UTG has posted on their website regarding the latest whereabouts of now former Dance Gavin Dance singer Jonny Craig.

UTG Reports: Yesterday, we reported that incriminating photos of Jonny Craig had been posted via an anonymous Tumblr account. Today, we have some exclusive details regarding Jonny’s current condition and what might be next for the troubled singer.

After much discussion in this AP.net thread, Thomas Nassiff contacted several contacts tied to Craig, namely his label and now former management, Artery Management. Rise Records responded by saying that they were clueless as to the current controversy and photos and provided no further public comment. It is assumed at this point that Jonny is still tied to Rise Records, however I can infer that he is well on his way to being dropped, only being held by contractual and monetary bindings.

With a bit of luck, the original poster of the pictures provided their email address for questioning, I pursued. After a lengthy phone interview with the poster who will remain anonymous, I can provide some insight to the current status of Jonny. In the interview, the poster recounted the time they have spent with Jonny in the process of recording some guest vocals. According to this account, Jonny has been on a nonstop string of heavy narcotic usage including the heroine shown in the photos provided. Jonny would show up to the studio an hour late and spend a half of that time recording what turned out to be some horrendous vocal work.

As expected, this drug use has left Jonny in poor mental and physical health and flat broke. Craig is homeless and desperate for cash. The anonymous source indicated that over the past year, he has assisted Jonny in countless ways. These include bailing him out of jail after his last arrest, giving him temporary residence, and spending approximately $10,000 on him in the process. Our source indicates that Jonny promised to pay him back with the royalty money he was owed by Artery Management, which Eric Rushing denies. Jonny went so far as to create fake email accounts to convince our source that Jonny was indeed telling the truth, posing as Rushing.

Lying, like singing, is a strong suit for the artist. This skill, however doesn’t require sobriety. Jonny repeatedly missed flights to recording locations (paid for by our source) and conjured up lies to excuse his absence. One instance of this was a tale of a car accident involving Craig and his mother on the way to the airport. This was verified as a lie by his mother at the inquiring of our source.

Care-taking of the singer was consistently necessary due to scabbing and bleeding from the heroin usage. Passing out in the studio and in public was not uncommon. This all ties back into Jonny’s legal status. In compliance with the orders of his parol, Craig is required to conduct weekly drug testing and as of yesterday, he has missed a hearing in which his attendance was required. of this testing and according to Eric Rushing of the Artery Foundation (via email), he is wanted by United States authorities. His last known location was Canada.

Jonny’s relationship with his now former band Dance Gavin Dance is now nearly depleted or nonexistent. Despite repeated attempts to obtain money from his bandmates, the band has resolved to assist him no more. DGD guitarist, Will Swan, has been reported by our source as saying things such as ”Jonny’s out of his mind. I think he is insane.” This comes as no surprise, after all, Jonny has been on a fast track to complete derailment in the past several months. Even with constant support and from friends and colleagues, Craig has denied rehab and “refuses to listen to anyone.”

This information has come to us from a confirmed source and is undeniably disturbing. This once successful singer is spiraling out of control with no signs of stopping. He is desperate, alone, and wanted. In the past we have wished Jonny well and hoped that he finds recovery from his addictions. Is it now too late?

I love Jonny Craig’s music.

His voice has carried me through so many difficult times that I can’t even count them all. When it gets rough I put any one of his brilliant songs on a loop and I just let every sound and nuance take me away until I can’t feel the pain, the sadness, or the anger anymore

I’m sure many of you have seen this picture of Jonny by now (seen below) and there are any number of emotions you must be feeling. Personally I was bother saddened and outraged.  Let’s be real, most of the artists we know and love use drugs and put down more booze than any of us can dream.

But this is different, after the macbooks, the rehab, and the arrests, this is absolutely depressing for anyone who loves this man’s music like I do.

What can I possibly say about something like this? First of all I don’t judge him for this, the facts are that drugs are a staple of the rich and famous and while we don’t want to admit it that’s just the way it is. While I don’t condone it, I do understand it.

The part that bothers me is seeing him like this, it’s like catching your big brother in pool of his own vomit after coming home from a late night bender, you still love him but you’re absolutely rattled to the core.

Secondly I understand - hell we all understand - that Jonny needs help and simple rebab isn’t going to help him. You can’t use conventional methods to cure someone who has spent his whole life cutting corners and placing blame.

But publicly defaming someone is never the way to go about it. Imagine if someone illuminated every miserable thing you’ve ever done, imagine if they put it out there and left you to rot in the sun all in the name of trying to help you.  It doesn’t make sense, it’s a fool’s game pure and simple.

Lastly and most of all as a fan I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do now. If the rumors are true and he’s actually been cut by Rise Records and is no longer with Dance Gavin Dance that doesn’t phase me much, we’ve seen this before and lord knows he’ll get signed by someone. But I don’t know what to do, every time I listen to his music now I see him high on some crap or something else.

I don’t want Jonny to die.

He doesn’t care about me, fine; I don’t need him to love me as I love his music.  But to live in a world where there’s not some of his amazing music out on the horizon, how do I even process that?  Make fun of me as you will but that’s the truth, I want him to get better, I want him to make music that will rock this world, I want Jonny Craig to be recognized for what he is, the best singer in music today.

But times like this I can’t see it happening. I can’t find that belief in the best intentions of the human spirit.  I just want him to get clean so I can fall in love with more of his music.

I was once willing to admit you’re perfect, now the words they stutter off my lips. I was once willing to admit…

Call me selfish but I that’s how I feel.

Lenon Bus Demo (New 2012)

Jonny Craig

Jonny Craig “Blue Print For Going In Circles” First Listen

Who: Jonny Craig

Song: Untitled (Possible Title: I’m Still Here)

Written By - Randall

Why You’ll Love This: Well it’s here, the first listen of the upcoming album from the one and only Johnathan Monroe Craig.  While this is still an untitled demo it gives an insight to the tone and sound of what may be headed our way from Jonny’s forthcoming, “Blue Print For Going In Circles” that is scheduled to drop early this year.

It’s no secret that there are few figures in modern music as polarizing as Jonny.  From his infamous Macbook incident to his multiple stints in rehab, this is a man who many people have written off, even begun to hate. Still, love him or loathe him, there are few singers on the planet with a voice that captures the soul of pure imagination like him.  Sounding more introspective than ever here, this song seems to capture the sense that Jonny has finally realized that he’s quickly running out of chances.

Sure cutting corners and placing blame will give you the badass persona that he has, but this song seems to show a humbled, tired, dare I say it… matured Jonny Craig.  The stripped down vocals, the simple strum of the guitars, even his lyrics show a definite realization that he has got to get his act together or risk wasting his incomparable talent.

In just this song, he takes on his familiar struggled with getting off of drugs:

It’s the things that make me old
Still I’m still here
It’s the things that make cold
Yet, I’m still here

This bullshit isn’t worth my life
This bullshit isn’t worth my life
And I know, no matter what it says I’m home

The pain of knowing that he still has such a long road ahead of him:

I know I’m home, getting out of reach
Still I sob away to know I’m just okay.

Even a feeling that he hasn’t lived up to his massive potential:

I’ve reached out, made plans to put these words in motion
But still I fall short

Overall it feels like Jonny is trying to say that he still has the pain, he still has the agony in his ecstasy-riddled vocals, but he wants to be a better man.  I think this is Jonny’s way of saying sorry in his own Jonny Craig way.

What this 4 minute and 21 second demo shows is more profound than any follower of Jonny could believe, the man we all want to be acknowledged as the greatest singer on this planet finally seems to be coming around. Will he still be Jonny?  Of course, that part of him we love isn’t going anywhere. But maybe, just maybe we’ll see a stronger, a more resilient - maybe even a better version of the man whose voice we adore than we’ve ever seen before.

Who: Craig Owens

Song: Need You Tonight (Backstreet Boys Cover)

Why You’ll Love This: Oh what it must be to be Craig Owens.  Legions of adoring fans, the voice that you’ll hear when you enter the gates of heaven, and the ability to turn a forgotten 90’s boy band song into modern acoustic gold.  Here Craigery runs wild on the Backstreet Boys song “I Need You Tonight” by putting his tender licks and sweet falsetto into every baby-making intonation of the pop song.  This is one of the many reasons that he is adored by all who have had the chance to embrace the decadent juiciness of his warbler-laced magnificence.  How can you not love this?
